Challenge:

A PC Product Retailer does a substantial amount of business through their Catalog and Internet channels, but wanted to increase their frequency of communication to their previous customers. In addition, they wanted to see if they could increase their margins by moving customers from call center transactions to Internet transactions.
Solution:
Since email is such a cost effective form of communication, they utilized the Equifax Email Append to enhance their recent catalog purchase records with email address. The file sent for the email append was a sample of customer records that have all purchased products in the past, but never purchased those products online.
Result:
In August, 2002 the client sent a file of 100,000 records for an initial test. The match results from the email append are as follows:

The initial broadcast was a “Welcome Email” only. There were no offers, or additional links in this initial email. Only 1.25% of recipients requested to be removed.

This client has multiple touch points during the peak season with their customers. These include both catalogs, direct mail follow-up offers. These campaigns are supported by an inbound call center and ecommerce via the companies website.

The client utilized these new online records during the 2002 holiday season by sending special offers and promotions via email to these customers. During the holiday season, they tracked the purchases made by the consumers whose email address was appended.

After the holiday season, the company compiled the purchase activity of these specific consumers from November 1, 2002 – December 31, 2002. The results were staggering. These consumers generated $580,000 in Internet sales (just over 2,000 orders) and another $300,000 in sales generated through the call center.

By generating $580,000 of Internet sales by customers that had not previously made online purchases, the client was able to increase their margins on these transactions, and reduce the expenses that the call center would have had to pay to fulfill these orders.

Challenge:
A Mid-Western Utility Company began an online bill payment initiative. Due to a lack on online promotion, the traffic they were getting at their website was minimal.
Solution:
The client decided to use the Equifax eMail Append solution to increase awareness of online services through the use of online direct marketing.
Result:

Initial append result of 20.45% (134,323 matched records)

Results from initial “Welcome Email”: The welcome email introduced the customers to they type of information they would expect to receive from their utility. It also mentioned, in passing, that they could elect to receive their monthly bill via email.

 
  • During the first 3 days, 20,191 customers opened this first communication.
  • 2,981 customers clicked to learn more about online bill payment.
  • 1,700 customers signed up for online bill payment… a 57% click to conversion ratio.

These staggering results were obtained from only one email broadcast. As they build an online relationship with their customers, the results will be even greater.

Challenge:
A Specialty Hobby Magazine wants to reach more of its subscribers online. The company is offering customer support and project plans online at no cost to its subscribers. Due to lack of online customer contact they have been unable to reduce their cost of customer retention. The company was looking for a solution that would both keep their renewal rates high while reducing costs by delivering customer support online.
Solution:
The client decided to utilize the Equifax Email Append to identify its readers that were online, and deliver additional information to them via email. They delivered a file containing the information for 87,007 of its subscribers.
Result:
The client was able to append email addresses to 27,838 of its records (a 32% match rate). The initial broadcast to these online subscribers was extremely well received. Over 44% of recipients that opened the email clicked through to the client’s site.

Challenge:
A Large Home Improvement Retailer wants to reach its customers online to promote store Grand Opening events, new services, promotions, and increase registrations for their home improvement newsletters.
Solution:
The client delivered their entire file to Equifax for an Email Append. As a result, they were able to identify over 7 Million online customers.
Result:
After the append, the company provided Equifax with zip codes where they were announcing the grand opening of a new store. Equifax was able to pull the email addresses of people within the surrounding area from the appended file, and delivered a Grand Opening email to these customers.
These Grand Opening emails consistently had open rates in the 30 – 50% range, and click-to-open rates from 35 – 65%. These campaigns were successful in driving traffic to both the grand openings and their website.
As a result of the success of these smaller campaigns, the client made a substantial investment by purchasing the majority of their customer email information.

Challenge:

A Specialty Clothing Retailer wants to capitalize on their existing customers for repeat purchases. As most of their offerings are custom fit, repeat customer orders, particularly online orders, would help increase their margins. While they want to drive traffic to their e-commerce website, they have few of their existing customers email addresses.

Solution:
Equifax Email AppendTM is able to verify 24, 117 email addresses which match their existing customer database. (approximately 25% of existing database is appended to include email addresses.)

Challenge:
A National Cable Company wants to expand their tremendous business & consumer customer database to take advantage of the efficiencies of email to execute special promotions campaigns and promote new services via email. They were excited about the fact that our email append pricing is 100% results driven, so they submitted their entire file for email appending.
Solution:
Equifax Email AppendTM is able to verify 268,854 email addresses which match their existing customer database.
Result:
9.6% of existing database is appended to include email addresses. Cable company only pays for the addresses that are successfully appended and now has 268, 854 of their existing customers email addresses. They are now in a position to start communicating to their customers via email.

Challenge:
An Automotive Service Center wanted to use online advertising as a primary vehicle to promote value added offers and communicate with their customers. While they had some success with email advertising in the past, they had only a very small database of email addresses for their existing customers. In order to build upon their previous success, they needed to expand the size of their online database.
Solution:
Equifax Email AppendTM processed a test append and is able to verify 100,925 email addresses (12 % of total records submitted for append) which match their existing customer database.
Result:
As an initial test, 36,000 records are purchased for use in an email campaign with a coupon element.

As this segment of their customer base was expanding rapidly and the users within this group have growing insurance needs, it was critical that they identify the most efficient communication method possible- to ensure that users are being communicated with during the moment of highest opportunity.
Solution: Equifax Email AppendTM processes an append against 2.3 million records.
Result: Equifax Email AppendTM is able to verify 245,556 email addresses which match their existing customer database. (10.55% of existing database is appended to include email addresses.) They are now in a position to begin communicating with their customers via email.
